His legacy lives on: DROPOUT KINGS will release Yokai physically on November 7.
In memory of the late Adam Ramey—co-founder, spirit, and powerful voice of DROPOUT KINGS—the band's latest and most personal album, Yokai, will finally be released physically on November 7, 2025, via Napalm Records. The work is a worthy tribute to a great talent who left us far too soon.
Hailing from Phoenix, Arizona, the DROPOUT KINGS combine the raw energy of nu metal with rap – a synergy that Adam helped shape from the very beginning. Just a few weeks before his tragic death on May 19, 2025, at the age of 32, Adam completed the final work on the album, which he considered the band's most personal and powerful to date.
Yokai is therefore more than just an album—it is a legacy. Adams' influence is omnipresent, from his dynamic stage presence to the authentic lyrics that permeate every song. The album conveys the same rousing aggression and rap-rock fusion that made “Virus” a hit on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Charts, but with an added emotional depth that can only come from a final chapter together. Napalm Records released Yokai digitally on August 8. Physical versions will follow on November 7, each designed and curated to honor Adam's vision and unwavering passion. Together with the band, this release is not just a farewell, but a celebration of everything Adam stood for: creativity, connection, and the raw power of music.
DROPOUT KINGS on the album:
"With an incredible mix of emotion and dedication, we are proud to announce the release of our new album, Yokai! This album is much more than just new music; it is our greatest tribute to the late legend, new father, and beloved brother Adam Ramey. It is not just entertainment, but a testament to the ambitions, struggles, pain, and indomitable will that have made DROPOUT KINGS what they are today. It is not only a journey into the hearts and souls of the band at a time of their greatest loss and the experience of the evolution of trap metal, but also the soundtrack to the realization of dreams and the overcoming of nightmares around the world. We ask you to listen, enjoy, and join our mission to not only honor and remember the spirit of one of the best people we ever had the privilege of knowing, but also to create a better world so that people like you, him, and us can live better lives and have a better future ahead of us."
