And even in my annual polls over the last ten years, ‚ÄúDarrk... It Is!‚Äù would end up at the top of the podium a hell of a lot of times. Now that that‚Äôs out of the way, let me describe Aiwaz. Take the most profound musical moments from Solitude Aeturnus, Wheel, Marillion and Warning‚Äôs ‚ÄòFootprints‚Äô song, and add sensational vocals to everything, which is of course reminiscent of Wheel‚Äôs last tour de force ‚ÄúPreserved In Time‚Äù (of course, Arkadius sings on both of them combos), but is even a bit stronger, and add on top six fantastic texts that have clearly been worked on for years - the result is a groundbreaking debut for genre fans, which will hopefully cause a sensation and be enjoyed by all taste-safe friends of epic music at the end of the year will end up in the top places. This is Heavy\/Power metal with some trashiness thrown in for good measure and with a similar level of aggression to a band like Metal Church. Another Return is a classic, metal influenced album with nice lyrics that are sung very well, memorable riffs, a nice drum beat and the occasional bass fill. The mighty Icelander, Eric Hawk reminds some of Ronnie James Dio and he does write some very excellent melodies. His vocals make the band really worth your time. The guitars are massive on Another Return, and the drums crash like a stormed wreck against a treacherous rocky landmass. The songwriting throughout\u003cbr\u003emost of the album is impeccable, with an excellent course plotted through mid-paced to slower, emotional tracks, and one moody power ballad.\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003e‚ÄòAnother Return to Church Hill‚Äô, the title track has a very memorable riff and some interesting lyrics to it. ‚ÄòLoaded‚Äô on the other hand has great vocals plus a nice, catchy riff and ‚ÄòWhere I Go‚Äô, the ballad of this album is a true masterpiece! We know raw production adds to the Black Metal aesthetic but when the guitars volume changes when it is not supposed to it becomes an issue. The mix here is balanced and the production is still very raw. This allows the instruments to roar, but still be at the correct volumes.\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003eThe music itself is much more thrash-sounding than previous efforts, but still manages to retain some black metal influences. A.C. Wild‚Äôs voice is evil and raspy as all hell, which makes for some great blackened vocals. The obvious highlights are ‚ÄúDesert!‚Äù and ‚ÄúIlona the Very Best‚Äù. These songs are fairly complex, have great riffs, and awesome guitar solos, provided by Andy Panigada.
