Photographer Danny Clinch, renowned for his work with musicians of all walks, has compiled a unique and powerful collection of images entitled When the Iron Bird Flies. The
book is a chronicle of Clinch's work and the past four Tibetan Freedom Concerts, where under a pole and drape tent, he photographed some of the most compelling portraits of
musicians, Tibetan monks and nuns, dignitaries, crew and concert organizers.
Clinch's photos document the excitement and spirit of the concerts as hundreds of people came together to produce an event focused on bringing attention to the plight of the
Tibetan people and their 50-year, nonviolent struggle for freedom. Black and white images interspersed with full color photos are accompanied by quotes from participating
artists, concert speakers, former political prisoners, and facts on the current situation in Tibet. Performance shots, candid moments backstage and fantastic portraits of
artists like Beastie Boys, Bjork, Radiohead, Michael Stipe and Tibetan band, Chaksam-pa are just some of the highlights of this special book.
This hard to find, out of print book is autographed by photographer Danny Clinch.
