Description:
For this latest issue, Beautiful/Decay conjures up the dark arts to present an enigmatic mix of fine art, design, street art and music that is inspired by black magic, the
occult, mayhem, the iconography of death and all things sinister. Issue S presents an eclectic mix of features from some of today’s best emerging and established artists.
Included are the punk influenced collages of Scott Treleaven, a design spread by Drew Liverman inspired by a 1604 manuscript from the Rosicrucian mystic order, and the work of
Banks Violette, which combines youth culture’s excesses with minimalist form and draws on such ill-omened themes as death-metal, teenage suicide and ritual murder. Also
featured is Hanna Liden’s photography, which pictures iconic masked figures set within an array of foreboding situations, bleak vistas and dark swamps.
On the music front, Beautiful/Decay is excited to present a two-page interview with Wu-tang Clan’s legendary RZA. Also featured is one of Norway’s biggest and most
notorious black metal bands, Immortal, as well as interviews with emcee Despot and instrumental band Pelican.
Issue S will also include a unique all-male profile fashion shoot featuring some of New York’s up and coming artists, curators, DJs, designers, and entrepreneurs. Included
in the line up is artist/designer Dust La Rock, DJ’s Sujinho and Cassiano (NOSSA clothing line) and emerging painter Justin Mcallister.
